Forum debate in the Basque Country on coexistence and migration events

Organized by the Socialist Party, took place in the People's House on 18 March Muskiz

The content of this forum-debate focuses on the coexistence and integration of immigrants. The invited speakers include Maria Seco Lopez, representing Euskalmon partner of the Peace is Possible Foundation, will speak on Integration and Diversity. Below you can read his speech:

Hello. Good afternoon, Arratsaldeon to everyone, I want to thank Gaizka and all the organizers for their kind invitation to participate in this conference on coexistence and migration.

I was thinking how to approach this talk and I thought the best way is in first person, telling my own experience.
I was born in Bilbao and ten years ago I moved to Portugal-Porto-for two years. I emigrated for pleasure, to know other cultures. In Portugal people also met Angolan, Guinean Portuguese course.

I know what it means to suffer racial discrimination and I know firsthand. My parents disowned me as soon as they knew it was a person of different race and color as mine and had a son with him. Thereafter
my desire was to seek answers to why they had me rejected. I went even more different cultures than mine, I did interviews with people making all the same question:
"What is the meaning of the word Peace" was one of the key questions and I realized that all I responded similarly.
We must promote and strengthen the values \u200b\u200bof Peace. Peace is the basis of all civilization, and any institution based on consensus required for any process of mutual understanding.
A fundamental tool is dialogue, because talking is possible the understanding and acceptance of others. Most times you reject someone, basically because he does not know it enough because we have not given the opportunity. We must strive to change attitudes generating processes of exclusion and a commitment and personal involvement by the daily recognition of the fact and equal right of all human beings.

daily Improve consistency between our beliefs and actions.
We are about 7,000 million people in this world. If we allow people to step forward, expressing their own need for peace would be possible to generate an awareness that would meet this need.

But what is peace? For some, peace is the absence of war, others think that peace is the absence of problems in the world. Peace Think not as absence but as a presence of something, and what can be? ...

Building a culture of peace is a personal endeavor that like love, is generated and spread in families, groups and societies. In contrast to the violence that is sterile, Peace is creative source of life, understanding, welfare and development.

We discover our possibilities to live in harmony ... the future is peace.
